【Choreography, Direction, Art direction and Cast】Akaji Maro

Born in 1943 in Nara, Akaji Maro began his career
in the underground theater scene in Tokyo joining Juro Kara’s “Jokyo Gekijo”,
and worked alongside Tatsumi Hijikata. In 1972, Maro founded the Dairakudakan,
a leading Butoh company, and created many spectacular works.
Furthermore, Maro has collaborated with various artists such as François Chaignaud,
Jeff Mills, Katsuyuki Shinohara & more. Also an actor, Maro has appeared
in numerous theatre productions and films such as directed
by Takeshi Kitano, Quentin Tarantino.
【Cello】Éric-Maria Couturier

A cellist and professor at the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs
de Musique et de Danse of Paris and Lyon.
He regularly performs on major international stages as a soloist
and chamber musician, with the Talweg trio, Mauricio Pollini
and Martha Argerich. He has been a member of the Ensemble intercontemporain
since 2002. He has worked with legendary conductors like Pierre Boulez,
Wolfgang Sawallisch and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
As a versatile artist, Couturier engages in improvisation and cross-genre projects
and created the music for popular video games.
Passionate about innovative pedagogy, he also co-founded Les Ateliers du violoncelle.
